From an ethical standpoint, people usually want the wellbeing of other people. From a business trading standpoint, getting the best products and the best price is crucial. A country with strong human rights might be able to influence another country to strengthen their human rights through pressures of trade necessity. However, it would take more than only one country’s pressure to really change a country’s human rights policies. This is because the poor human rights country can just choose new trading partners. Therefore, all countries would have to pressure this country to improve its human rights. It is also concerning though to deny MFN status to a nation due to its human rights. Denying MFN status could make that country’s human rights problems even worse through decreasing income. 2.
