Persuasive Speech Outline Topic: Overcoming Distress with Music Thesis: Distress is creating an ineffective flow of society by limiting the capability of the individual and needs to be fixed coping through playing a musical instrument. Purpose: Convince the audience that stress is inhibiting their daily lives and that it can be overcome by playing a musical instrument. Intro: I. Attention Getter: “Laying on my bed tossing and turning at 3:00 a.m., feeling an agonizing pulse surge through my head and in my chest. Completely fatigued from a day of doing nothing, yet my body wouldn’t allow me to rest. Clenching my stomach, I dreaded the moment of waking up to ______.” Restless nights like this come from an obscene amount of stress. II. Thesis: Stress affects us all and if we let that stress rule over us, it becomes distress; we could end up just like Claire’s night. This speech will go over why distress is a problem, not only to individuals, but also to societies as well as how we can overcome this distress.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
