Ponyboy doesn’t only save children from a burning church, but he fought in a rumble despite him being in poor physical condition. These are some reasons why I think Ponyboy is the hero in the book The Outsiders.The way Ponyboy shows heroism the most is when he saved the children from a burning church. Ponyboy could have just let those children burn to death and not be affected, but instead he went into the church despite it almost collapsing on top of him and saved him.
