Performance Appraisal Performance appraisal “is the process through which employee performance is assessed, feedback is provided to the employee, and corrective action plans are designed” (Youssef, 2015). An effective performance appraisal is needed to let employees know what they need to work on in their job field. In this paper I would like to discuss strategic advantages of performance appraisals, forms of bias and how performance appraisal contribute to achievement of strategic objectives.Performance appraisals are reports given to employees annually to discuss their prior year’s performance. There are many advantages in giving effective performance appraisals to employees. If a performance appraisal is given correctly the employee will know what their strengths and weaknesses are. If an employee knows what their weaknesses are they can concentrate on those areas and become a better employee. With a poor employee performance appraisal, the employee will not know what their weaknesses are, and they will not know how to become a better employee. It is not fair to the employee if they have a poor performance
