Subject: GUIDELINES FOR REDEMPTION OF EPCG LICENCES ISSUED TO TOUR AND TRAVEL OPERATORS AND HOTELS FOR IMPORT OF CARS ZJDG Circular No. 12/AM08 Dt 28.1.08 There have been reports from investigating agencies particularly, DRI from time to time regarding misuse of licence/authorization issued for import of car to tour and travel operators and hotels. The basic misuse alleged has been with regard to sale of such cars imported under EPCG scheme to some individuals/celebrities. EPCG authorization/licence and items imported against them are subject to actual user condition. Items like car/sports utility vehicles, etc. allowed to tour and travel operators, hotels etc. which fell in the category of service providers cannot be transferred for a period of 5 years from the date of imports even in cases where export obligation have been fulfilled in terms of provisions laid down in para 5.7.6 of Handbook of Procedures (Vol.I).
