Lab Quiz #7 Name____ _______ Date_______ Section____________ 1. (2pts) What is unilateral wilting? This symptom is commonly seen with what type of disease? Unilateral wilting is when wilting occurs on one side of a shoot or plant only. This is a common symptom of Fusarium wilt diseases. 2. (2 pts) Vascular wilt diseases caused by species Fusarium and Verticillium are monocyclic. Describe the disease cycle for one of them. The pathogen spores survive in the soil and plant material over winter and when temperatures rise the pathogen infects the host. The pathogen grows and reproduces by spreading throughout the host tissue and produces macro or micro conidia and chlamydospores that serve as primary innoculums. There is no secondary innoculum which makes this disease monocyclic. 3. (2 pts) Based on your drawing for #2, what part of the disease cycle is most important to control? Defend your answer. Preventing the disease from infecting the host is the most important control method for this disease.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
