UNIT ONE: Target population:who is targeted as a whole. Parameter of interest:what are they doing with the who is experimented. Parameter: characteristic about population. Statistic:about sample. Simple Random Sample (SRS):sample from finite population, everyone has an equal chance of being in the sample. Stratified Random Sample:divide population into strata (groups), natural grouping structure, everyone gets represented.Cluster Sample:divide population into groups then randomly select clusters, space/time differences between groups. Voluntary-response sample:lead to bias with strong opinions. Convenience sample:lead to bias/unrepresentative sample. Selection bias:selection doesn’trepresent the population. Non-response bias:individuals have different responses than those not in the sample. Measurement error bias:information given/recorded is incorrect, could be involuntary or voluntary. Type of studies:observational & designed. Observational studies are susceptible to lurking variables. Well-designed experiments are not
