BBDM2153 Operations Management Executive Summary Our project is to study the layout of an organization and project management. The first part of the project is mainly focused on the study the layout of an organization. Based on the current layout, a brief description of the current layout is formed after visiting the selected shop. Besides, we formed some discussions about the strengths and weaknesses of the layout by relating them to the six aspects which are utilisation of space for equipment and people, signages, flow of information and material, safe working conditions, customer interactions and servicescapes. Some photos will be attached in the discussion to give a clearer picture to purport the exact condition of the shop. A floor plan of the shop will be drawn and attached in the appendix as well. Other than providing the brief explanation on the current layout and discussions about the strengths and weaknesses for the current layout, we also formed the new layout which is the advanced version of the current layout. The new layout is specifically enhanced the strengths and minimize the weaknesses of the current layout with the fulfilment of the six aspects which are stated above. Apart from that, we also provided the reasons of creating such layout in our recommendation. The second part of the project is focused on the project management. Project management is important for an organization. This is because without a proper project management, an organization probably will incur additional cost and longer time to be succeeded. We used critical path method network drawing with Activity-on-Node (AON) approach to schedule our project so that the project can be run smoothly and it can be done on time. We also identified the activities to be conducted throughout the project and slack time as well as the critical path. In conclusion, we performed the observation on the current layout of an organization, creation of new layout which is the enhancement of the current layout of an organization and also scheduling our project by applying critical path method with the AON approach and also identified the activities with slack time and activities involved in the critical path.
