2 Standards and Regulations in Health Care Informatics Compile organization-wide health record documentation guidelines. The standards that the Joint Commission have in place are based from an evaluation that helps health care providers make their performance better by measuring and assessing the data that was collected from the evaluation. The standards focus on patient care and essential organization functions that allow them to provide safe yet high-quality care. The evaluation is not the only thing that is looked at when making standards though they also get input from advisory panels and stakeholders as well. (The Joint Commission, 2017). Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) quality standards are as follows and pertinent to rehabilitation services such as behavioral health and addiction rehab centers (Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities, 2018): Aging Services (CARF, 2018). Behavioral Health (CARF, 2018). Business and Services Management Networks (CARF, 2018). Child and Youth Services (CARF, 2018). Employment and Community Services (CARF, 2018). Medical Rehabilitation (CARF, 2018). Opioid Treatment Program (CARF, 2018). Vision Rehabilitation Services (CARF, 2018). Health Level Seven (HL7) standards are grouped into reference categories (Health Level Seven, 2018): Section 1: Primary Standards: These standards are the most used and contain the standards for system operations and inter-operability. (Health Level Seven, 2018). Section 2: Foundational Standards: As the name suggests these have the building blocks and tools for making new standards. (Health Level Seven, 2018).
