How much is it worth (teacher will add grade) READING Assignment Minister’s Black Veil” Questions 1. How does the congregation respond at first to Mr. Hooper’s black veil? Why? The congregation responded shocked or amazed at first. The reason why is because the minister performs eccentric action and keeps why a secret. But mostly they don’t like the fact that Mr. Hooper covers his face with a veil because its most likely not needed. 2. In a single afternoon, Hooper presides at both a funeral and a wedding. How do people react to the presence of the veil at each event? People aren’t a fan of his veil at either the wedding or the funeral. The wedding just isn’t a place to  wear a black veil. I find it pretty rude and others  could take it as disrespect but Mr. Hooper didn’t  seem to care and just left the wedding instead of  taking the veil off which shows that his veil means  more to him than being at the event. 3. What explanation does Hooper give to Elizabeth, his fiancée, for wearing the veil? What arguments against wearing the veil does she make? At first he didn’t want to tell Elizabeth but then eventually Mr. Hooper gives the explanation that the vowed to wear the veil forever. It is a symbol and type for him. 4. The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
