Name - Tiwana Terrelonge Student I.D- 74103983 Assignment- Relevant Article Review Topic - Emotional Intelligence in the Workplace Tutor- Zaida Rodrigo Perez The articles reviewed were Article 1: “Emotional Intelligence in the Workplace”by Claudia Fernandez and Article 2: “Relevance of Emotional Intelligence for Effective Job Performance: An Empirical Study”by Priti Suman Mishra and A K Das Mohapatra which explored the topic of Emotional Intelligence in the workplace. Emotional intelligence as defined in both articles has to do with recognizing one’s own feelings and others. However, one author, Fernandez (2007) went further than that in the context of workplace by stating that it is also “having the ability to move forward constructively with the interests of the larger group at heart.”EQ as defined in Article 1 is the Emotional Intelligence Quotient which is a tool used to describe how one uses their soft skills. The belief that EQ is directly related to job success in the workplace is a similarity that is shared between both articles. Even though IQ (Intelligence Quotient) is important, most success stories are directly linked to people with high EQs. This is supported by Fernandez (2007)
