Brian Fontenot EE 302  Telang 16190 10/22/07 Unit E: Technical Seminar- Thermal Properties of Nanostructures My eyes were open; my horizon was expanded after attending the “ Thermal Properties of Nanostructures: Thermoelectric Applications”  seminar given by  Dr. Chris Dames, University of California – Riverside. No one could even ponder the complexity of nano-tubes and the transfer  of energy through these structures. There is much research that is conducted every year to  reduce the amount of energy lost through the transfer. Dr. Chris Dames, the assistant Professor  at the University of California – Riverside,  has  directed his research towards a deeper understanding of the thermal, electrical, and optical properties of nano-wires and nano-tubes, with a particular focus on energy-conversion applications. His experiments included development of models and actual testing of the nano-tubes to determine the physical property changes in order to conserve energy. In his presentation, he presented many different scientific results. By measuring a quantity called
