Faster, more accurate, sells more rooms at higher rates ii. Electronic switch technology 1. Earlier, airlines and hotels had incompatible systems a. Complicates training, causes errors, increases costs 2. Now, incompatible systems “speak the same language” a. Now one terminal is used for booking air, lodging, and car rentals b. All bookings done in real-time i. Inventory updated in real-time ii. Customer confirmation provided instantly iii.
