Who were some of the business and Industrial titans of the late nineteenth century, what did they contribute to America’s Industrial Growth? The major Industrial titans of the 19th century was Cornelius Vanderbilt, Alexander Graham Bell, Thomas Edison, J.P Morgan, John D. Rockefeller, Andre Carnegie and Henry Bessemer. These where the men on top of society in the late 19 th century. Combining the earning of all these men except for Bessemer and Graham Bell, their combined Net worth at the time of their deaths is 1,710,300,000 or 1 billion 710 million and 300 thousand dollars. These men were held to high esteem for the contributions they had in the growth of Industrialization in America. At the heart of all this wealth was the introduction of the steel industry, may of theses inventions and projects with the steel industry starts off as patents made my Sir Henry Bessemer. In total Bessemer made 110 patents for his inventions and other. Bessemer was an English Inventor and Engineer it was his curiosity and determination to make a stronger cast-iron that led to the process now known as “The Bessemer Process”. The process is when blowing air through melted cast iron not only purified the iron but also heated it further, allowing the purified iron to be easily poured. This heating effect is caused by the reaction of oxygen with the carbon and silicon in the iron. Bessemer’s designs opened a whole new world of possibilities for those who had money and these seeking money.
