Cesar Estrada Chavez Background Born on March 31, 1927 in Yuma, Arizona. Died on April 23, 1993 San Luis, Arizona. He was union leader and labor organizer who dedicated his time to improving the pay, conditions of farm workers. He grew up working in the fields and received his education in a school where Spanish was against the rules. Later joins the Navy at age 19 and served two years. Meets Red Ross, an influential farmer, becomes and organizer for Ross’ Organization. Soon Starts speaking for better conditions for farmers.

Brief Summary The speech was in Delano on Sunday March 10, 1968 showing his pain the he feels for farm workers’ sufferings of their bad conditions. He believed the farmers should all be a family and sacrifice for the union. He also wanted to celebrate their unity so they continue a non-violent struggle for social justice.
