Assignment #3 The shifting balance of powers in Europe and the thought, that all the countries believed they would benefit from war was key in the outbreak in 1914. World War One was a war intended to end all wars and as a consequence became a massive destruction. A war that not only involved soldiers and a battlefield, but one that took over countries socially and domestically. Everyone became apart of the war effort, everything was targeting towards war in 1914. The impact of World War One cannot be underestimated and as a result fifteen million people died in a war that was so horrific - it was something no one had witnessed before. Ernst Von Salomon’s was probably excited waiting to see the returning soldiers from war. Many people are gathered together to celebrate their heroes, but what he sees changes his perspectives on the war. The way he describes the soldiers looks is deep and saddening. Their eyes lay deep in dark, gray, sharp-edged hollows under the shadow of their helmets.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
