Elizabeth Specimen Paper 1. Study Interpretation A in the Interpretations Booklet. How convincing is Interpretation A about the motives for Drake’s round the world voyage? Explain your answer using Interpretation A and your contextual knowledge. No interpretation booklet attached. [8 marks] 2. Explain what was important about the rebellion of the Earl of Essex for Elizabethan England. The essex rebellion was also important as it showed the power of the catholics and their motivation to have Elizabeth killed. During his trial, Essex was charged with negotiating with the pope, showing his support for the catholic religion and essentially opposing Elizabeth through doing this but also shows he inability to be able to influence the council as strong as previously shown in previous situations such as her silencing parliament on the topic of her marriage. However, the rebellion showed that the parliament was stable and organised against any threats that may appear. The organisation of spies allowed Elizabeth to give correct orders to ensure that the rebellion was dealt with swiftly, shown by how people still favoured the Queen rather than the message of the Earl of Essex. This is shown by the large amount of people deciding the leave the rebellion upon hearing that It was deemed a traitorous act by the Queen.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
