The main objectives of this lab sessions is to familiarize with the basic manufacturing practices especially in fabrication and welding, basic fitting tasks to apply the various tools and equipment used during hands-on training as given. Essentially student should know the work involved, machinery or equipment necessary, time required to fabricate and weld, also should be able to estimate the requirements of the product or job work. At the end of this lab sessions, students should be able to: i. Explain the characteristics of sheet metal fabrication and spot welding, application in terms of process, equipment and setup. ii. Apply proper tools and equipment to produce sheet metal product. iii. Demonstrate positive team working attributes by contributing actively in group projects. iv. Write a technical report which includes constructive discussion explaining project outcome. 2.0 INTRODUCTION The term ‘sheet metal’ is used to mean metal having thickness in the range from 0.4mm to 6 mm. When the thickness is more than 6 mm, the metal is called a plate. Products made from sheet metal can be found almost anywhere. Metal tables, steel cabinets, car bodies, beverages cans and home appliances are some of the common examples. The advantages of sheet metal are high strength, good surface finish, good
