NETWORKING 2 Business Network Goals and Problems One of the business goals of the firm is to make sure that it can easily expand its local area network in the future without exorbitant costs and moving a lot of equipment. Another goal is that every department must have a very fast access to the local area network. One other goal is to make sure the local area network remains up and stable always. One other goal is to make sure the local area network remains compatible with windows seven. Group Proposal for Easily Expandable LAN for Low Cost and Equipment The IT team came up with a LAN topology consisting of five access switches one for each department, two core switches to route traffic flow, tow edge router firewalls to protect the firm and two E-mail severs for speed and access. In the following proposal you will find our IP addressing and topology layout. We will address how wireless connections will help keep our new network up always and allow for a secondary fast connection to the LAN. We will also address how the LAN will be compatible to the Windows Seven operating system. Finally, our team will summaries our selections in the summary section. Each department will be interconnected and for future growth say to a second building we will add encrypted VPN connections.[Enc18] There is a build in security feature in almost all VPN’s that blocks local networks while connected VPN however there is away around this. For our VPN and LAN network we will enable split tunneling since the LAN will be using windows seven we can manage the VPN as well. Normally this would be a security risk however since we have a duel firewall setup we can accomplish this without supplementing security of our LAN.

NETWORKING 3 [Miz06] The new LAN along with VPN, split tunneling, WIFI and the extra IP addresses will have us in good shape for the upcoming growth of the firm. Every Department Having Fast LAN Access Plan The IT team will be able to build the LAN quickly and inexpensively since setting up a small local area network is not as extensive as creating a large network most important part is planning for growth. Each department will have a dedicated switch to connect each departments computers and printers to the core switches in the sever room. This will allow for every

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
