IS Notes Thursday, February 12, 2009 Transaction type o Business-to-consumer (B2C) o Business- to- Business (B2B) o Consumer-to-consumer (C2C) o Consumer-to-Business (C2B) o eGovernment Company Structure o Bricks and mortar: you can’t do transactions over the internet (physical retail outlet) o Bricks and clicks: Barnes and Noble- Barnes&Noble.com: you can purchase your books online CVS: integrate in-store brick and mortar policies with online operating systems Pure play- EVERYTHING IS ONLINE (no physical retail presence) Revenue Models 1. Pay for service: the firm offers a product or a service for sale 2. Subscription- customers pay for the right to access content 3. Advertisement support- the firm makes it content or service free for a large audience and sells access to its audience to interested advertisers (radio stations use this all the time to sell their large demographic access) 4. Affiliate- the firm generates revenue from a third-party based on traffic it sends to the partner web site
