Devin Miertschin EDP 310 3-30-09 Anxiety Activities Activity #4: My Anxiety Story Be certain you have a paper copy when you finish this Activity. Then close this window. Write a brief description of a time when you felt especially anxious within the last six months. 1. When I was in my Biology class last semester I noticed I had had high levels of anxiety. This was because the class was mainly a lecture class and during the whole semester there were only three exams that determined my grade. Therefore, before every exam I had high levels of anxiety because I did not know how I was going to do on the exams. Since my anxiety was high it caused me to not focus while I was studying the material for the exams. Activity #8, Part A: Events that Make Me Anxious After you have a paper copy of your responses, close this window. Write three events on the left side of the page that you believe make you feel anxious. Do not complete the boxes on the right side. Event 1: An event that makes me feel anxious is before an exam for any class. This is because I am always questioning myself about if I know the material that will be on the exam. Event 2: Another event that I am always anxious about is a golf tournament, if feel the most anxious before I tee off on the first hole. Right before I tee off I feel nervous and forget about the shot and think about who is watching me. Event 3: The final event I am anxious about is when I have a week in school when I have something due in all my classes in the same week. This causes me to think about too many assignments at once and I don’t know which one I should do first. Activity #8, Part B: My Perceptions of Events that Make Me Anxious After you have a paper copy of your responses, close this window. Refer to your paper copy of Part A in which you listed three events that you believe make you feel anxious. For this Activity, write what you believe or expect about these events, or their outcomes, that makes you feel anxious. My Perceptions of Event 1: The reason I feel anxious before an exam is because I afraid that I will fail the test and I will not know the material on the exam I am taking. My Perceptions of Event 2: The reason I feel anxious before I tee off during a tournament is because I am afraid I will hit a poor shot and people will laugh and think that I suck and should not be playing in the golf tournament.

Devin Miertschin EDP 310 3-30-09 My Perceptions of Event 3: The reason I feel anxious when I have many assignments due in the same week is because I get overwhelmed with the amount of work I have to do. This causes me to do the work poorly to get it done quickly. Also I get frustrated because I feel I don’t have enough time to do it all. Activity #9: The Consequences of Feeling Anxiety
