Unformatted text preview: (1) There are several pros and cons to Comcast’s bandwidth cap. One benefit of implementing a bandwidth cap is the assured decrease in illegal online activities. If people realize that they are limited in their internet use they will not be able to illegally download as many songs or movies. Another benefit to capping internet use is that Comcast claims the cap will ensure fair access to the internet for all users. “Bandwidth hogs” slow down the network for the users that do not use bandwidth excessively. By putting a restriction on how much bandwidth an internet subscriber can use, it levels the playing field, allowing every client access to the same internet speeds.
