English 1201- GC Professor Antenor Thursday, December 18, 2008 Final Essay Every generation establishes its own unique traits and characteristics. The Baby Boomers were known for their hard work ethic, and were very career oriented. Generation X was known as a generation that experimented with drugs and was self centered. Generation Y, my own generation, has gained the reputation of being technology savvy, operating towards entrepreneurship, having a disrespect for authority, and tending to possess a sense of entitlement. While some of these traits are positive, and some negative, I would have to say that I agree with all of them. Generation Y is certainly tech-savvy. Ask anyone under the age of 30, and they can easily check their email, find directions to a nearby restaurant, look up reviews of that restaurant, and check out the menu, all from their cell phone. If you ask the parents of Generation Y, they will tell you that their son or daughter spends hours on the computer updating their blog, myspace, or facebook. Two
