Dragon Riddle Once upon a time their lived a prince named Ivan. He lived happily with his princess, too beautiful for words to describe. One day while Ivan was hunting, his princess was snatched by a hideous dragon.(A) Ivan mourned the kidnapping of his princess in his castle, passing his days in loneliness. It caused Ivan such great sorrow that he shed enough tears to fill the moat surrounding the castle. Despite fearing the intense strength and power of the dragon that had stolen his bride from him, he decided to go in search of his kidnapped princess. He met with his father and mother told them of his plans and said his tear-filled goodbye.(C) Then determined and eager, the prince set off from his castle.(n) He traveled for a long time or a short time until he crossed paths with a wise old woman. Ivan implored her asking, “My fair lady, where may I find my kidnapped princess?” To this she responded, “I will only provide you with your answer if you are able to solve my riddle within three guesses, for only a clever prince can conquer the evil dragon.” To this Ivan responded, “Well if ever there were a clever prince, that clever prince would be me.” So the wise woman asserted her riddle, “What is it that you dispose of the outside in order to cook the inside? Then you eat the outside and dispose of the inside.”(D1) Ivan guessed incorrectly, “a dragon.”(E negative)
