Sex Roles – Ch. 5 pg. 193-197 Our current cultural definitions of masculinity are evolving as men try to redefine sex roles while staying in a “safety zone” of acceptable “manly” behaviors. The “M” word (metrosexuality) has become taboo and other words are popping up instead. One such word is the ubersexual : the most attractive (not just physically), most dynamic, and most compelling men of their generation. They exhibit a masculinity that combines the best of traditional manliness (strength, honor, character) with positive traits traditionally associated with females, such as nurturance, communicativeness, and cooperation. Current “ubersexual” icons include Bono, Bill Clinton, George Clooney, Pierce Brosnan, etc. .. A Miller Genuine Draft survey recently found that “average Joes” are moving on from being beer drinking dudes, but also don't want to lose their identity as regular guys.
