Abortion
One phrase which mostly comes across people mind when they think of the word
abortion is ending a pregnancy. Abortion is an intentional medical or surgical process which ends
a pregnancy for a woman. Abortion removes a fetus from the uterus of a pregnant women in
prevention of completing full term pregnancy. There are two types of people who supports
abortion and people who doesn’t. The two terms which associate with supporting abortion or not
are pro-life and pro-choice. Pro-choice is also known as abortion rights movement. It supports
the view of the women it is her choice to do abortion. A woman has the right to choose what to
do with her body. She has the right to end the pregnancy of her own choice by the law. Pro-life is
people who are totally against abortion. The people who are against it, their believe is that
abortion is intentional killing of a human being life before he or she is born. Abortion is an
extremely controversial issue . Those who support pro-life oppose abortion and those who
support pro-choice believes it’s the woman’s right to choose.
In the United States, women have been performing abortion for thousands of years. At
that time abortion was legal to do so and it was commonly performed. Around the mid-1800s
states decided to pass laws. The laws made abortion illegal to perform. At that time surgical
abortion was extremely risky. There wasn’t many common hospitals around. In most of the

hospitals the surgical abortion wasn’t performed in very sanitized way. The doctors weren’t
really that educated about performing abortions. There wasn’t a lots of helpful technologies we
have now, then back then. The medical doctors didn’t have advanced medical technologies which
we have now. Not a lot of medicines were created to help a woman after abortions. Women who
needed abortion at that time had no choice but to go for illegal and dangerous surgical abortion.
A lot of women had infections from the abortion surgery and lead to death. In between the years
of 1880s to 1973 thousands of thousands women were in danger in attempt of abortion. Some
women even tried self-abortion which lead to serious health damage and death.
In 1973, in
almost all state abortion was legal to American women. In Texas, abortion was illegal expect to
save a woman’s life. Jane Rose who was a pregnant woman, she represented all women who
