Amanda Rewinkel T-TH 1pm Ethics 1. The ethical issue is that Empress Luxury Lines is defrauding their insurance company. Given that the Utilitarian ethical concept goes by the thinking that, “greatest good for the greatest amount of people,” Empress could be seen as a company doing what is necessary to get the computer upgrades which would be for the greatest good. On the other hand, the Deontology concept of ethics says that regardless of how many may benefit from having the upgrades, it is still inherently wrong. 2. Antonio Melendez is affected because his boss, CFO Roger, was alright with lying, stealing, and committing fraud against the insurance company and Melendez doesn’t know whether to go over his boss’ head or not. Kevin is impacted because even as a new hire, he still refused a direct order from his boss and faces possible termination for doing what he thought was right. Phil Bailey and CFO Roger could be in serious trouble for fraud if any of Empress’ staff told the insurance company. Phil and Roger obviously stand for the Utilitarian
