AMSI NOTES 10-30-08 Bill Hurst bought the New York Morning Journal in 1895. Loved sex, violence and gossip. Called “Chief”. He was a wonderful employer, a decent guy who talked to his employees. 1945 New Journalism Interpretative journalism 1971- “Pentagon Papers” incident. “HOLY SHIT NEWS”- You pick up the New York Times and read the headline and say Holy Shit!-Its what drives America. The press married wall street and the devil. LEVELS OF THE MODERN PRESS IN THE NATION The establishment, elite press. -New York Times, Washington Post, Wall Street Journal, Chicago Tribune, LA Times, Christian Science Monitor. The metropolitan Press- Community Press- Not suffering, supported by ad within. The alternative press- Calendars for sex, drugs, rock n roll, and anti-war movies.
