Ellee Lazarov Med Gen Bloom Syndrome journal Bloom Syndrome is characterized by a delay in growth. A facial rash, due to dilated blood vessels is commonly present. This rash may be shaped like a butterfly. The child may be sensitive to light and their immune systems are very weak. This weakness predisposes children with Bloom Syndrome towards several secondary infections and typically cancer. I would place many restrictions on my child if he/she had bloom syndrome. Mainly because Bloom Syndrome weakens the immune system, therefore my child would not be a loud to participate in every day activities as a normal child would. The reasons for these restrictions; he/she runs the high risk of being infected with any thing from a cold to Cancer. In addition, kids with Bloom Syndrome are sensitive to light, so the child would not be able to play outside. Meaning, it would be hard to go on vacations to a sunny place or even, allow your kid to go swimming at summer camp.
