Leon Eggleston Professor Tarpennining 04/7/2018 French Civilization The movie “Vatel” was shown to be in the taken place in the 17 th century and how the French culture was back then. French in the 17 th century was different when it came to how everyone was treated and how they got along. Vatel was one of the main characters in the film that treated everyone with respect and made sure everyone was happy. The peasants, merchants, nobles and royalty are placed in different social classes and were each treated differently. The lower consisted the peasants, middle class was merchants and nobles were considered upper middle class, and the upper class was royalty. When it comes to how they treated each other, well royalty looked down upon anyone that was in the lower class. The lower class was treated horribly when it came festival time for when the King arrived. Bur, Vatel handled it much differently. When it came to the lower class, he spoke to them calm and was very honest. He understood how it was when he was “enslaved” before coming to Chantilly. When it came to the
