Continental and oceanic (which is denser) Oceanic is denser because it contains more basalt -How do we know the oceans have been around for ~4.1 billion years?   The earliest rock contains argon 40 from potassium 40 which is still existent  as a radioactive halflife which is fized and by observing this rock we can tell  that  Where did ocean water come from?   Outgassing (volcanic emission of water vapor) o Which turned into rain  rain fell on earth and as the surface cooled
