Mayo, Barnard, Maslow, and McGregor were some of the theorists that contributed to the “human side of enterprise.” The Human relations management theory is believed that people desire to be part of a supportive team that facilitates development and growth (Perry, 2017). There were theory basics that were evident during these studies. They were: 1. Individual attention and recognition aligns with the human relations theory. 2. Many theorists supported the motivational theory. 3. Studies supported the importance of human relations in business (Perry, 2017). The Hawthorne Studies was the first major studies of the human relations approach. This study was focused on how worker reacted to actions of management, how variations in physical working conditions affected output, and how social interactions among workers affected job performance (Milakovich & Gordon, 2013, pg. 153). The Hawthorne studies opened up a way to show social structure and human interaction. This was studied by Elton Mayo.
