Critical Thinking Lab #5 Over the course of the lab, I had the opportunity to explore and understand concepts of freezing and boiling points of water. I now realize how understanding these specific points can help me with everyday life tasks. Most commonly, understanding boiling and freezing points with cooking. Boiling water can be used for so many different dishes while cooking. I now know how to best determine when water is officially reaching its boiling point. I also learned that fresh water takes much loner to reach a boiling point than salt water, due to its heat capacity. This also means that it cools down faster and does not retain as much heat as freshwater. So if I come across an instance where I need to speedily boil water, I know I can add salt, to allow the heat capacity to lower so that the water reaches its boiling point in the most efficient amount of time. Since freshwater has the highest heat capacity, that means any other liquid containing various minerals, has a lower heat capacity and will boil quicker. I have also learned how the atmospheric
