Katie is treated with intravenous and intrathecal amphotericin B and miconazole, as well as oral rifampin. After a week of therapy Katie's signs and symptoms improved, and after two weeks of treatment, a repeat CSF turned out completely normal with no evidence of naegleria trophozoites.
