EUH 4500 11/27/17 War of the Roses – It is going to be a conflict between two branches of the royal family. When Richard II died the next in line would have been Anne, his cousin, but she had married Richard Duke of York, therefore her claim had been transferred to her children. She did not put forth her claim, the Yorks didn’t do anything about it. Henry V got the claim to the crown. The Yorks claim remained dominant until Henry VI’s claim. Henry VI has some mental problems; some modern doctors believe he had schizonfrina. He would get in these trances where he would sit and stare and you can move him around and he wouldn’t know what was happening. He married a strong will woman, Margaret of Anjou. o He had mental lapses. People called him low, Margaret of Anjou took over. John of ______ had three lives and he got all of his money from his first marriage Blanche of Lanchester. All of Johns children were born bastards, but parliament legitimized them for everything except becoming a monarch. The whole thing was a bit complicated and difficult for people to keep up.
