1. Audience: Do you think Briggs is writing for a general population, or does she have a more specific audience in mind? What makes you think so? With the way Briggs focuses on education in her paragraph about why we must teach intellectual humility, it makes her audience seem more geared towards educators. She gives many examples of how the concept of intellectual humility is forcing educators to have to change the way they teach and raise their children. 2. Purpose: Briggs sees a problem with the way many people approach learning, leading to a lack of intellectual humility. To address the problem, she explains the relationship between intellectual humility and love of learning. She also gives specific examples of how intellectual humility can be incorporated into a range of learning models. Do you think Briggs accomplishes her purpose? Why or why not? I felt that she was able to accomplish her goal. She was able to make a convincing statement by using top corporations such as, Google, and help give solutions as to what we could do to help fix this such as, suggesting we teach the younger generations very early about intellectual humility. She was able to move me, so I feel she accomplished her goal.
