2 Social Media Mr. Y is a new teacher in his first 90 days of employment in his district. He has made friends with many staff members and invited them to visit his social network page. On his website, Mr. Y has listed quite a bit of personal information. One of his colleagues visited the site and became very concerned because the site included a statement that Mr. Y was attracted to young girls, stating “the younger the better.” The colleague notified the principal of this information. While Mr. Y may have not meant that he liked girls, as young as he is teaching or under- age girls, he did not make that clear in his post, which leaves a lot of room for people to speculate. Whoever the colleague was could have taken offense to the post and taken it serious. With being a new member of the teaching faculty, this post could have raised a red flag and caused other teaching faculty to think he could cause harm, or get sexually involved with a student. I believe that when you are a teacher, you need to conduct yourself in a professional manner, and respect both yourself and everyone you come into contact with. The colleague that
