Topic 6 DQ#1Jesus made many absolute statements such as the following:John 14:6: "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me" (NIV).Matthew 7:13-14: "Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road thatleads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it" (NIV).Interacting with these statements, how would you answer someone accusing Christianity of exclusivism (as defined in Chapter 8 of the textbook)? This is straightforward to me. Look at who all Jesus wants in Heaven with him; it’s everybody. One of the reasons he came down to earth and died on the cross. He came down anddied, to save EVERYBODY. If you look up Mark 2:17, and Luke 5:31 it says I’m here to help the sick not the healthy people. In these passages, Jesus is referring to all unsaved people (sinners) as sick people. What part of this is exclusive? It is an exclusive club to be in once you’re in, but to get in it takes faith.
