Communication through Technology and Social Media Technology and social media has become a focal point in the way people live their lives. Over the past couple years people have become significantly more dependent on technology. The gadgets invented for convinces has changed the way we work, date, research information and communication. The idea of constant connection to the outside world is very appealing to the youth. Adolescents have become dependent on technology changing the way the world works as they grow up and emerge into the work force. Technology has helped in medical miracle, the making of safer cars, and the spread of important news. (Gebski,2015) Technology has quickly changed human life making everyday tasks easier and keeping everyone connected. Social media has changed the way people communicate on and off line. Before social media most people only talked to and knew news about people they see face to face. Social media makes the number of people an individual has access to grow exponentially. Social media helps to spread news and messages out to thousands of people at lightning speed. This has changed the way people interact in person, different social media platforms have made it difficult for people to carry out normal conversations when face to face with someone. (Edwards, 2015) Social media also assists with customer service and companies communicate with their clients. Most companies use twitter and Facebook to get messages, sales, and information to people they are trying to sell to. Companies can use social media to study their customers and use targeted campaigns. Social media gives customers and clients more insight on the company that would previously only be available by physically going to the office. This gives the company’s exposure and another form of advertising. A new era of technology is coming, close to 92% of teens claim to go on the internet daily. (Younger, 2015) If this many teens who will soon be 2
