The art of public speaking rough outline (EXAMPLE) Topic: The art of public speaking Title: Public speaking demystified Purpose: To inform the audience about how they can get over their fears of public address and become better speakers. Thesis statement: A dreaded and often overwhelming form of communication for most people, public speaking is not as daunting a task as one might think. There are a couple of easy steps that can make anyone a public speaking pro. Introduction: According to a 2001 survey by Psychology Today, public speaking is more commonly feared than death. But, why? Humans routinely engage in interpersonal conversations with two or more people. What makes speaking in front of larger groups such a daunting task for most people? Be it a work presentation, a commencement speech or simply speaking in front of a group of peers, the anxiety of speaking publicly can be debilitating. Perhaps if people knew more about how to craft a speech or the steps involved in developing a smooth, conversational speaking style, we could demystify the art form once and for all.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
