ANALYZE THE BASICS 2 BattsBSE7004-5 Analyze the Basics of a Quantitative Research Design A quantitative approach to research focuses on investigations of research problems with the objective of proving theories and hypotheses (Creswell, 2014) about an area of research interest. Quantitative analysis involves the use of empirical observations using mathematical expressions of quantitative relationships (Krathwohl, 2009) or variables. In quantitative research, investigators follow a structured approach that involves testing hypotheses (Barnham, 2015) looking at causes and effects to make predictions. Quantitative research uses large, random selection of subjects and operational definitions of variables to obtain quantitative data using precise measurements (Goertzen, 2017), as structured and validated data collection instruments. A quantitative approach to research aims to describe, explain, or predict behaviors reflected in statistical reports with correlations, comparisons of means, and statistically significant information (Hope & Dewar, 2015), which helps justify research conclusions.
