Angio- relating to blood vessels Cardio- relating to the heart Myo- meaning the word muscle Echo- meaning a reflected sound Electro- meaning the electricity of something Trans- meaning across, beyond or over Cardiac – relating to the heart Vascular – relating to the blood vessels of the body Cardiovascular – relating to the blood vessels and heart Action potential – a change in electrical potential because of an impulse along the membrane of a muscle or nerve cell Preload – the load beforehand; the left ventricular end diastolic volume Afterload – the end load; the stress in the wall of the left ventricle wall during ejection Ejection fraction – the amount/percentage of blood leaving the heart each time it
