The World is Flat Discussion 3/18/08 The world is flat is meaning the playing field is being leveled The globalization of America, he wanted to know where every single part of his Dell notebook came from and the name of everyone who built it No two countries who are both a part of the same supply chain will ever fight When the world is flat people no longer have to immigrate to do what they think they could do in America Outsourcing is not just about wages, it is also about brainpower. China wants to beat us, be scientists and engineers, and be the best. They want prosperity and they want to dominate. All of our technologies have converged Globalization 1.0 refers to the discovery of America by Columbus. Alludes to the industrial revolution that happened in Western Europe. Guns and steel helped Europe colonize Africa, Asia, and other parts of the world. This European colonization and exploration caused the world to change from a large place to a medium one Globalization 2.0 is about the colonization which was based on trade.
