2 MAE 142 State Space A state space model is formed by a collection of differential equations that predict the dynamic behavior of a system (or vehicle). The state vector includes variables that are needed to determine the system “state”. The state vector includes motion variables (position, velocity, …) … But also may include variables that describe the state of vehicle subsystems Engine → temperature, pressure, thrust, rpm Structural → deformation, stress Aerodynamics → unsteady effects Controls → sensors, noise filters, surface deflections, momentum wheel speeds

3 MAE 142 State Space Format The differential equations are arranged in a form that returns the state vector derivative. An optional measurement or output function may be used to compute other variables of interest. ˙ x t = f [ x t ] y t = h [ x t ] f : n  ℜ n h : n  ℜ m ˙ x = f x y = h x

As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
