Reign of the Superman was about a bald madman who tried to use his telepathic abilities to rule the world. 7. Hercules and Sampson were inspiration for Joe and Jerry’s character, Superman. 8. Superman’s costume was designed after the muscle defining outfits of circus acrobats. 9. Every publishing company turned down their ideas. 10. National Periodical Publishing started a new comic book titled “Action Comics.” 11. In his first appearance, Superman didn’t fly, he leapt from building top to building top. 12. People liked Clark Kent as much as they did Superman. 13. Superman #1 sold more than one million copies.
