The system is compact making it ideal for smaller machines. Gear ratios also affect the speed of each gear, therefore changing the size of one gear can drastically affect the outcome. Gears with 1 to 1 ratios have the same speed, making no difference in the outcome.Procedure: For part A, look up each gear specified in the Boston catalog. Record the gear type, number of teeth, pitch diameter, and diametral pitch. Then find the gear ratios of the gear pairs. For the second part of the lab, run the Job Master Trainer at 3 different speeds, record the speed of each gear at a given time to determine RPM. Then determine the actual velocity ratio and theoretical velocity ratio. For part B, use the Morse catalog to find speed reducer that fits the specifications stated.
