Van John Y. Divina Final Exam – Business Ethics 1. Rank the six characters of the case: Eddie, Conrad, Chang, Raymond, Mr. Reyes and Betty. Rank 1 the person whom you consider whose action is least objectionable. Rank 6 the person who you consider the most objectionable. Explain why you gave such rank to each of the six characters. What principle in Business Ethics was your basis in ranking? 1 st Rank – Conrad – being the boss of the company he is not supporting any unethical behavior of his subordinates just to have sales. He knew the that if they give the bribe the competition with others will be lost. Justice will be the basis here because he wanted to be fair, he imposed punishment for the wrong doing. 2 nd Rank – Raymond - as the friend of Eddie he is on his side closing the deal for the project with Chang even if the stakes are high. He has ethics of care principle; he cares only for the wellbeing of his friend after closing the deal. He values their close relationship with each other. 3 rd Rank – Betty – she is the one gossiped what she has seen to their boss Conrad. She has the Right to say anything she wanted to their boss. 4 th Rank – Mr. Reyes – even if he knew that Eddie’s account was over drawn he still allowed him to loan the big amount. He also has the Ethics of Care Principle; he allowed him to loan because he knew the father of Eddie. He values the relationship of him and Eddie’s father. 5 th Rank – Eddie – even though he was told not to give the bribe the still insist the action and do a way just to give the bribe. He works hard with his connections to have the money to buy the Rolex Watch. He is a utilitarian he calculated consequences, or
