Williams Jonathan Williams ACA-122 Professor Chamberlain July 22,2014 Student Development Activity For my student development activity for ACA-122, I chose to attend an information session on the College Student Transfer Excellence Program (C-STEP). The session took place on July 21, 2014 at the New Bern Campus in room 115 of the Student Center. Sarah Whitford, who is the C-STEP recruiter at Craven Community College, led the information session. By attending this event, I learned of an excellent opportunity that is provided to students of low-to- moderate family incomes. Although the program is very competitive to enter, it seems well worth it. C-STEP is part of a partnership that the University of North Carolina (UNC) at Chapel Hill has with 9 community colleges across the state of North Carolina. The program was established in 2006 and enables community college students to transfer and graduate from Carolina. The program targets students that demonstrate both financial need and academic excellence. All students who wish to enter the program must submit an application that includes
