The “TIGER-based Assessment of Nursing Informatics Competencies (TANIC) survey” was designed to provide a valid and reliable tool for self-assessment nurses perceive in nursing informatics (NI) competencies (Hunter, 2013). In reviewing my self-assessment in the TANIC survey I found both strengths and weaknesses, but also found the weakness are technical skills I don’t use daily or use rarely.Many of my strengths are with basic computer skills such as maneuvering through multiple files, openingfiles, and copy and paste functions. In addition to these strengths I found another strong point is with e-mails that I use daily. Weakness I found were those such as moving folders between drives, protecting my computer and information, and using anti-virus software.A skill with basic computer competencies I am lacking is the ability to change a default printer to an installed printer from a list.
