This document should be written conscientiously and reflect your thinking about field work and your first ventures into the exploration of your study site. 19Your report should run no more than TWO single-spaced pages in length. This assignment, has been designed to help you narrow down your topic, determine the suitability of your study site, identify roadblocks to data gathering, and determine appropriate sources of information within your study site to analyze, and get a firm sense of the best means of gatheringdata on your identity at your specific site – what to observe and how; who to interview, on what topics, and how to approach them.Your report should have four sections and address someof the following topics under each:A. TELL US ABOUT YOUR STUDY VENUE -- FIRST IMPRESSIONS Describe your first venture into the field as an intentional observer and data-gatherer.Describe the process of announcing your purposes to relevant actors, especially anywhose permission or acceptance you will need to conduct your research.
